DCC president Balaraju quits Congress

District Congress Committee president P.Balaraju has resigned from the Congress.

A letter to this effect was sent to AICC president Rahul Gandhi. He said he was quitting to understand the changing political scenario in the State and do more service to the people. He thanked Rahul Gandhi for giving him an opportunity to serve the society. ‘I have ascertained the views of my followers before taking the decision, he said.

He was tight-lipped about his future course of action. A decision will e taken in the next couple of days, he said. Beginning his career as Mandl president in 1987, he was elected to the AP Assembly in 1989 from Chintapalli (ST) constituency. After a gap of two decades, he won from the Paderu constituency in 2009 and lost in 2014 elections in the hands of YSRCP candidate Giddu Eswari.
