Court rejects Malladi Vishnu bail petition in spurious liquor tragedy

The First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court today rejected the anticipatory bail petition moved by former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu who was Accused 9 in the spurious liquor case.

It may be recalled that as many as five persons died and 32 others were hospitalized after they consumed spurious liquor at Swarna Bar and Restaurant at Krishnalanka here on December 7, 2015. The police so far have arrested nine persons including cashiers, manager and other staff in the bar after the incident. The State Government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang and DIG Mahesh Chandra Laddha. The police have booked Malladi Vishnu and his family members under Section 160 of Cr.P.C.
