College Managing Director held for sexual assault bid

The Managing Director of a vocational junior college was taken into custody by the Kancharapalem police today for allegedly trying to assault a student.

The accused had been identified as BVNS Kumar. Though the incident took place on Friday, it came to light only on Tuesday after the girl shared it with her classmates. The news led to tension in the college with the students roughing up the Managing Director and vandalising furniture. Police reached the spot on time and pacified the students.

The accused reportedly asked the girl to help him clean his house. After she entered the house, he bolted the door and tried to sexually assault her. The girl managed to escape. Meanwhile, the wife of the accused reached the college and reportedly told the police that her husband was not a man of good character and had earlier molested a few girls promising help in clearing board examinations.

The accused started Visakha Vocational Junior College in Dabagardens. The police booked cases based on the complaints given by two girls under the relevant Sections of sexual assault and molestation.
