Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay the foundation for the underground electrical cabling project at the Pandurangapuram sub-station in Visakhapatnam on October 9.
In a teleconference on Sunday, Chandrababu Naidu said the goal should be to restore power supply within 24 hours after cyclone makes landfall. He said the way the State government restored normalcy in Visakhapatnam had been widely appreciated.
Principal Secretary (energy) Ajay Jain said underground cabling of 675 km and construction of gas insulated/indoor substations were planned exclusively for Visakhapatnam at an estimated cost of Rs.720 crore with the support of the World Bank. The project would be completed in one year.
