Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched the online registration of motor vehicles in the State, the first of its kind in the country in Visakhapatnam through video conference remotely from Vijayawada.
Chief Minister said that this will minimize the delays and eliminate corruption in the issue of registration numbers. He interacted with the first customer under the new system, Eswara Sarma who purchased a car form Varun Maruti showroom at Siripuram.
Transport Commissioner N. Balasubramanyam brief the Chief Minister about the process of uploading the Aadhaar card and other details of the customer at the showroom of the dealer. He said that the new system would be monitored for the next couple of weeks and measures needed to improve the functioning of the system would be taken up. He said that 83 services offered by the Transport department would be made online by June end. After that, applicants would only have to visit the offices of the Transport Department only for getting Learner’s License, Driving Licence and Fitness Certificate for vehicles.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao participated in the launch said that the system would be extended to other parts of the State after training of automobile dealers by the end of this month.
