Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has announced a new scheme ‘Jeevan Jyothi’ to BPL families under which they would not be charge for 75 units of power consumed.
The scheme is named as Babu Jagjivan Ram Jeevan Jyothi and is expected to give some relief to the BPL families.
Chandrababu also unveiled another scheme under which beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes would be given Multi-Purpose Vehicles which could be operated as commercial taxis. The first lot of 125 MPVs would be given away during the 125th birth celebrations of B.R.Ambedkar on April 14. The government would provide 60 per cent subsidy on the off-road price of the MPVs in the scheme meant to provide self-employment. The MPVs cold be operated as commercial taxis by the beneficiaries. Chandrababu Naidu said that the beneficiaries would be given Rs.15 lakh as subsidy under the Land Purchase Scheme. Eligible SC/ST beneficiaries would be allotted land by the government in which they could take up any revenue generation activity.
