Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will distribute LPG connections to 1.57 lakh families in the State on the eve of 126th birth anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar today on Friday.
Chandrababu will kick-start the process by distributing the LPG kits to the Tribal families t a programme according to Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he said that the tribal families from six districts Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari and Kurnool would be benefitted.
Each family would get an ISI certified stove, 5 kg refill cylinder, a regulator, hose pipe and DGCC book. The kits, each worth Rs.2,400 would be distributed by the ITDAs. A sum of Rs.3.76 crore from the Tribal Sub Plan would be utilized for the purpose, said Pulla Rao. He said that the government also plans to distribute 24 lakh LPG connections to the poor before June this year. Gas dealers have been instructed to take steps to distribute the kits as per the government’s plan.
A sum of Rs.60 crore from the SC Sub Plan would be utilized for providing LPG connections to SC families under ‘Deepam’ scheme. The total budget required was Rs.350 crore.
Chandra Babu Naidu would give away cash award of Rs.1 lakh to ration cardholders who did cashless transactions while purchasing ration at the Fair Price Shops. One person would be selected from each district. A smart phone worth Rs.5,000 would also be given away, he said.
