Chandrababu Naidu announces ‘Pelli kanuka’ from January

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today announced ‘Pelli kanuka’ scheme to the beneficiaries from January 1, 2018.

Speaking in a short discussion on welfare schemes in the Assembly today, he said that the government would pay 20% of Pelli Kanuka before marriage and 80% on the day of marriage. People were paying dowry to the bride instead of demanding it from the bride’s parents. Indeed, it was a good trend that bridegrooms were ready to do so, he said.

The Chief Minister said a pension of Rs.1,000 per month would be given to transgenders very soon but did not give any elaboration on it.

Chandrababu said that the government was paying Rs.2 lakh compensation for natural death under Chandranna Bima. On Anna canteens, he said that it would launched in 2018 and would provide 29 lakh gas connections with a cost of Rs.474 crore. The government would go for elections only after completing the housing schemes. The houses constructed without permissions were also being regularised and Open Defecation Free was achieved, he said.
