The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday informed a special court for CBI cases that it got permission from the Centre to prosecute senior Telangana IAS officer B.P.Acharya under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act in the cases against three more companies for alleged quid pro quo investments in YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy case.

The CBI has requested the court to take cognizance of charges against Acharya as a public servant under the PC Act in addition to charges that he is already facing under IPC.

It may be recalled that the High Court had recently granted stay on all proceedings against Acharya in the special CBI court. The DPoT had earlier accorded permission to CBI to prosecute Acharya under the PC Act in the case against Indu Tech Zone. The latest order is in Lepakshi Knowledge Hub and Hetero Drugs and Aurobindo Pharma group in others.
