Censor authorities says ‘no’ to film title ‘Mental Police’

Thursday, April 14, 2016

The Hyderabad Regional Board of Film Certification has refused certification for the trailer of a Tollywood film named ‘Mental Police’ objecting the tittle of the movie.

Sources in the CBFC said that the film is yet to come for certification. But the film makers sought certification of the trailer to be telecast on TV and to be shown in theatres. We refused certification as the title was objectionable, much before police associations objected.

TS Police Officers Association president Y Gopi Reddy warned film makers that if the police was abused, they would be punishable. He also demanded that film makers use the TS Police logo. ‘It is unfortunate that film titles are abusing the police. Many cops have laid down their lives. On the title ‘Mental Police’, we have served notice to director Babji and the producer. There was no reply from them. We are happy that there re producers who show the police as heroes but we will stop their films if they show police as comedians'’ he said.
