Case booked against Gowtham Reddy while Radha holds press conference

Monday, September 4, 2017

A case was registered against YSRCP trade union leader P.Gowtham Reddy for his alleged objectionable remarks against Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga.

Gowtham Reddy, in an interview to a private channel a couple of days ago, made derogatory remarks against Ranga which led to tension in the city on Sunday. Police took the former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and his mother Ratna Kumari into preventive custody under Section 15p1 CrPC anticipating trouble when they latter reportedly planned to stage a protest against Gowtham Reddy.

DCP T.K.Rana said Satyanarayanapuram police had registered a case against Gowtham Reddy under Section 153(a) of IPC on Sunday night for making objectionable remarks and inciting violence and disturbances between two groups.

Meanwhile, YSRCP leader and former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna today lashed at him and appealed the followers of Mohana Ranga to stay calm. Addressing a press conference, he said ‘Criticism against us will be accepted but any comments against Ranga who is not among us will make his followers revolt. Persons of any stature will have to face the anger of the followers’, he said.

Radha said that Gowtham Reddy had amassed hundreds of crores and was involved in murder cases. He was also allegedly involved in cable and land mafia and had been expelled from the party. The party is repenting for encouraging such persons and had taken the right decision in suspending him, he said. Ratna Kumar, a woman and a former MLA was mercilessly taken into custody by male police. There was no woman police personnel and minimum courtesy was not shown. We have questioned the police to allow us to visit a hospital but they ignored and arrested us. The police have only over acted to impress their bosses. I shall file a written complaint against the DCP and other officers, he said.

It may be recalled that September 3 YSRCP suspends Gowtham Reddy for his comments on Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga.
