Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang has cancelled his 15 days leave following outburst from various sections of the people and political parties that he was asked to go on leave.
Gautam Sawang, who was scheduled to go on leave to Australia has attended the duties today. Sources said that the victims of the Call Money have appealed the Commissioner to investigate the case resulting him to cancel his sanctioned leave. His leave has become a controversy as the opposition parties have alleged that the ruling TDP is sending the Police Commissioner on leave in a bid to dilute the case. Director General of Police JV Ramudu has announced yesterday that Additional DGP NV Surendra Babu will act as in-charge CP.
Speaking to media today, Gautam Sawang said that he had requested the DGP to cancel the leave sanctioned earlier. Sawang confirmed that he himself applied for the leave in the past as he wanted to celebrate festival along with family at Australia. The severity of the case and requests made by the victims had persuaded him to to cancel his leave, said Sawang. He further clarified that there were no pressure on him from any corner.
