CPS- Police foil attempts by teachers and staff to proceed to Assembly

The police have taken into custody of several members of the teachers and employees’ associations when they tried to march towards Assembly demanding abolition of Contributory Pension Scheme.

Police arranged pickets at different points en route to the Assembly to foil the teachers and employees move to stage the protest. They stopped the protesters at Prakasam Barrage and Mandadam villages. Following a call given by the teachers’ associations, police arranged pickets and deployed forces in Krishna and Guntur districts to prevent protesters from proceeding to the Assembly.

Leaders of the APNGOs Association, Telangana NGOs Association, All India State Government Employees Federation and the AP and Telangana Government Employees Associations have been agitating for the last few years demanding abolition of CPS and revert to the Old Pension Scheme.
