CPI(M) plans for State-wide prost against ‘village malls’

CPI (M) State secretary P.Madhu today announced that a State-wide protest from November 1 to 10 would be held opposing the government’s agreement with Reliance Retail and Future Group to convert fair-price shops under the Public Distribution System into the ‘ village malls’.

He said that the party activists will register protest in front of over 29,000 fair-price shops across the State which the State government wanted to convert into village malls. Speaking to media, Madhu said that the Chief Minsiter was bent upon handling over in a platter of Rs.3,000 crore business to the mega retail chains.

On Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra, Madhu said that the party will back it. He said that they will support any stir by other parties to highlight the people’s causes. Party district secretary M. Anjaneyulu set a dead line of November 6 for the government to announce water release for the farmers to plan the type of crops for cultivation in rabi.
