Thirty nine persons were injured in two bus accidents in the State on Thursday.
Thirty students were injured while 48 students escaped unhurt when an overloaded private bus plunged into a rivulet at Pedda Allavalapadu in Pedda Cherlopalli mandal in Prakasam district in the early hours. 28 students were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here and the condition of two of them are said to be serious.
According to sources, the accident took place when the driver tied to avoid colliding with a granite-laden lorry coming into the opposite direction and hit a culvert.
In another incident, eight women staff and a driver were injured when a private bus proceeding from Vijayawada to Chennai rammed the staff bus belonging to the Sri City special economic zone on the national highway near Doravarisatam in Nellore district. The bus overturned after being rammed by the private travel bus. The passengers sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Transport Sidda Raghava Rao directed the department officials to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Here it may be recalled that a private bus belonging to Diwakar travels plunged into Diwakar Travels bus fell into a culvert killing at least 11 passengers and many injured.
