Building collapse leaves 35 injured

Over 35 people were injured while two of them seriously when an old building collapsed at Muddanapalle village of Ramakuppam mandal here today evening.

The villagers watching ‘jallikattu’ from the roof of the building when it came down. Hundreds of spectators from neighboring Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kuppam had thronged to witness the bull race. Sources said more than 70 people were sitting on the roof of the building when it caved in, throwing 25 of them under the debris. The injured were shifted to hospitals at Ramakuppam, Kuppam, Gudupalle and Shantipuram. The bull race was called off following the incident.
