Boat tragedy – Purandeswari seeks a fair probe

BJP National Mahila Morcha in charge D.Purandeswari today demanded an impartial probe into the boat tragedy at Pavitra Sanghamam in which 21 persons dead.

Speaking to pressmen after calling on some of the members of the bereaved families along with among others, BJP district president P.V.Krishna Reddy said the incident was very unfortunate. There were several lapses and according to reports, relatives of some Ministers and officials were involved in the business of ferrying tourists without adequate safety measures, she observed. She said that the government would render justice to the surviving members only by taking deterrent action against the guilty.

CPI demands judicial probe:: Meanwhile, CPI leaders and activists staged a demonstration at the Berm Park today and demanded that the government should punish the culprits behind the tragedy. D.Shanker alleged that all the illegal boats being operated in the Krishna belong to the benamies of the two Ministers. The NHRC should take up the case suo motu and demanded the Chief Minister to order a judicial probe.

It may be recalled that the Boat mishap – search operations called off after retrieving all the bodies.
