BSNL, East Godavari telecom district has decided to invest Rs.168 crore as part of its expansion.
It will take up installation of 3G and 4G towers in the district. Speaking to media today, Principal General Manager of the district M.John Chrisotom said that they would erect 600 4G, 300 3G and 680 2G towers before the end of March 2018. He said that the district is standing in the number three position in respect of overall performance after Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
At present there are 356 2G and 158 3G towers are there in the district. He said that they have introduced Wi-Fi hotspot, mobile data offloading at 48 places in the district and planning to increase them to 120 by March next year. At present, the telecom has 83,000 landline connections and expecting to reach the target of 90,000 before the end of next March.
