In a novel protest to highlight the poor quality of construction of the Assembly at Velagapudi, the BJP MLAs and MLCs attended the House wearing raincoats and carried umbrellas to send a message that leakages were common in the Assembly building.

It was a silent protest. The leaders displayed placards with slogans such as ‘Is it Assembly or waterfall’ and ‘Built at a cost of Rs.10,000 per sft, Assembly building leaks. It is misuse of public money.

Speaking to media, they said that the public money was wasted on construction of the interim capital and Assembly. Even a slight shower would result in rainwater leaking into the offices of the Ministers, exposing the quality of works, they said.
