Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Minister of Delhi. He is a politician of the Aam Aadmi Party and a social activist. Kejriwal is a former Indian civil servant. He has launched his political party on 2 October 2012.

Kejriwal was a former IRS member. He founded the India Against Corruption in 2010. Kejriwal is also a Ramon Magsaysay Award winner for Emergent Leadership in 2006.

Blaming both the Congress and BJP parties for the coal blocks allocation issue, Arvind Kejriwal along with India Against Corruption activists staged protests in front of the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP president Nitin Gadkari. He was detained by the police and were later released. Protesting the harassment by the police on IAC activists, he staged a Jail Bharo Andolan on September 3.
On 6 September 2012, Kejriwal claimed that he received information that the CBI has tipped off coal companies before conducting raids in the coal blocks allocation issue.
Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to accept the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Kejriwal said that the whole issue is moral test to the Maharashtra Chief Minister. “Prithviraj Chavan is regarded as an honest Chief Minister, an honest person. We would like to appeal to him that Prithviraj Chavan is having a sort of test, an examination. We can understand that he is facing all sorts of pressure. Will he come under pressure and save his government and not accept Ajit Pawar’s resignation? Or would he be successful in his test and accept his resignation? His resignation must be accepted,” he said.
On September 19, 2012 Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal parted ways over the issue of forming a political party. Hazare is against following the political path and contesting the election, while Kejriwal felt that a political party is the best option to fight corruption.
Arvind Kejriwal has announced his political party on 2 October 2012, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
