The two consecutive suicides by medicos in Sri Venkateswara Medical College here within a week dampened the spirits of the students, college management and that of the denizens of the city.
The reasons behind the deaths, recovery of a suicide note in the recent one reportedly by the police officials indicted that the girl committed suicide due to her personal problems. On Sunday evening, P.Geethika, a second year MBBS student took the extreme step at her apartment in Sivojyothi Nagar in the city.
Meanwhile, the SVMC students and management organized a meeting to mourn the death of the students at the college auditorium. Former MPs V.Varaprasad and Chinta Mohan visited the college and extended solidarity with the students organizations staging a demonstration there. They urged the student community to refrain from taking such extreme measures and demanded that the district administration to take appropriate action to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
District Collector P.S.Pradyumna directed the SVMS principal G.Ravi Prabhu to organize a session on personality development for students on August 14.
