YSRCP MLA Kalavati denies joining TDP

Srikakulam:: Palakonda MLA of YSRCP Viswasaraya Kalavati has denied joining that she will be joining TDP during Mahanadu to be held in the last week of May in Visakhapatnam. In a press note, she alleged that some TDP leaders are trying to defame her as she is raising the people’s issues at the Srikakulam ZP meeting and other platforms.

Poll in two mandals deferred

Vijayawada:: The State Election Commission has decided to withhold elections to ZPTCs and MPTCs in Velairpadu and Kukunoor mandals that are marked for submergence under Polavaram project. The SEC took the decision a day ahead of displaying of ZPTC/MPTC electoral rolls by the Returning Officers scheduled on Friday. It may be recalled Election Schedule issued for 2 ZPTC 17 MPTC vacancies on May 1.

ACB arrested RTO in disproportionate assets

Vijayawada::Regional Transport Officer of Srikakulam Chittibomma Naga Venkata Hyma Rao was arrested by the ACB on charges of possessing huge disproportionate assets. In a release, ACB DG R.P.Thakur said that the teams have conducted simultaneous raids at the house of the accused in Srikakulam an five other places including Visakhapatnam. He is possessing a house site at Rajahmundry, Tangellamudi and two sites at Kopaka and Tangellamudi of West Godavari district. Six properties including four house sites were found registered in the accused wife’s name Ch.S.Rajani Kumari. Each one of hs daughters has a flat and three house sites register in their names. Gold worth Rs.20 lakh was found in the bank locker and two lockers are yet to be opened.

Teacher booked for girl’s death

Kurnool:: The Kodumur police have registered a case against Raghavendra, a teacher at P.Kotakonda, on a charge of abetting suicide of SSC student Vani (16) basing on her dying declaration that he sexually abused her. She was allegedly immolated herself on May 1. She died of burns at Kurnool General Hospital on Wednesday. The teacher Raghavendra working in a school at P.Kotakonda, who was her neighbor allegedly proposed to the girl and moved intimately with her. The girl’s parents made her discontinue studies according to police.

Allu Award presented to Dasari Narayana Rao

Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao was presented with Allu Ramalingiah Award by Tollywood actor Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind at his residence on the eve of Dasari Narayana Rao’s birthday. Many film personalities called on Dasari at his residence and conveyed birthday greetings. He was hospitalized for four months and is taking rest at his residence. Dasari Narayana Rao was born on May 4, 1942 at Palakollu in West Godavari district and directed over 150 films and produced 53 films. He has received two National Film Awards, nine state Nandi Awards, and four Filmfare Awards South among others.

Principal Secretary Municipal Administration entrusted with RERA

Amaravati:: The State government has issued a G.O. entrusting the duties of Real Estate Regulatory Authority to the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development till the establishment of RERA. According to RERA rules, the authority will have its own website.

KL University announces entrance results

Amaravati:: The entrance test that was conducted for admissions into engineering courses in KL University was released. The university vice-president Koneru Raju Hareen on Thursday said that the counselling will begin from May 14. Over 36,000 candidates have appeared for the test and as many as 31,232 candidates got qualified. Those who got ranks from 1-750 will be eligible for scholarships.
