  • Amaravati:: Kesineni Travels workers demand action against management:: The workers of Kesineni Travels have demanded the Road Transport Commissioner to take action for payment of salaries and other allowances which are due for the past one year. The worker along with CPI and other associations on Monday staged a dharna in front of the RTA office. They raised slogans against Kesineni Nani.
  • Amaravati:: Panchayat Secretaries examination prelims key released:: The APPSC that conducted a screening test for the recruitment of Panchayat Secretaries, the key of the test was released on Monday night. This was posted on the official website. Objections if nay can be brought to the notice in writing before May 1, said APPSC sources.
  • Guntur:: Former FCI Manager in police net:: An impostor who has been threatening government employees in the district by posing as an ACB official was nabbed by the Guntur Urban Police on Monday. SP, Guntur Urban Sarva Shresth Tripathi produced the accused before the media on Monday. The accused Kolanukonda Madhu is from Nalgonda and has worked as a manager in the FCI and the SBI. While preparing for Group I examinations in Hyderabad, he hit upon the idea to earn easy money by pretending to be an ACB officer. He collected the phone numbers of department heads etc,, through Internet and began to threaten them. On April 18, he called Joint Director of Agriculture VDV Krupa Das and demanded Rs.5 lakh. He asked Das to board Macherla passenger and drop the bag at a certain location. Das kept the bag with himself. The accused had called Das again on Monday and asked him to come to Nallapadu railway station. Acting on a complaint from Das, a special team nabbed the accused at Nallapadu station.
  • Kurnool:: Venkata Reddy takes over as APGB chief:: A.Venkata Reddy, Deputy General Manager of Syndicate Bank regional office at Vijayawada assumed charge as Chairman of Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank at the bank's head office in Kadapa on Monday. APGB Chairman D.Sampath Kumar Chary who has been promoted to the pot of General Manager in Syndicate Bank and repatriated to the sponsor bank.
  • Ponnuru(Guntur):: A tenant farmer commits suicide due to debts:: According to sources, a tenant farmer Chapala China Nagayya (48) of Mamillapalli village of Ponnuru mandal of Guntur district committed suicide due to debts. He has taken two acres of land on lease basis and incurred debts to the tune of Rs.4 lakhs.
  • Penamaluru: Viswa Brahmins demands immediate solvation of problems:: The State Viswa brahmins Cooperative Society president Simhadri Kanakachary has demanded the government to solve the problems they have been facing. He demanded the government to establish a corporation with an initial allotment of Rs.100 crore. They demanded subsidy on the wood they have been purchasing and also payment of pension to the goldsmiths those who crossed 50 years of age. He demanded construction of Sri Veerabrahmendraswami temple in the State capital in five acre land.
  • Ongole:: APRS stages protest:: The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam on Monday threatened to intensify agitation in support of chilli growers who are in dire straits following market crash. A month after different forms of protest by farmers, the government had not taken enough measures to improve the situation said APRS district secretary P.Venkata Rao.
