  • Amaravati: Rythu Sangam on the lines of DWCR groups:: The government has decided to form Rythu Sangam on the line of DWCRA groups. Minister of Women and Child Welfare, SEFP Paritala Sunita has directed the officials to strengthen the Farmers Self Help Groups by extending the benefits of the welfare schemes. She held a teleconference with the SERP Project Directors and higher officials on Tuesday after assuming office on Tuesday.
  • Machilipatnam:: KRU convocation on April 22:: Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad will deliver the fourth convocation address of Krishna University here on April 22. The university will confer Doctor of Letters on Buddha Prasad who is promoting Gandhian philosophy and striving for promotion of Telugu and literature. Governor and the Chancellor of the University ESL Narasimhan will preside over the convocation.
  • Kurnool:: Increase in Assembly seats on the cards:: Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murty on Tuesday said that the increase in the number of Assembly constituencies in the State from 175 to 225 and formation of five new districts are on cards. The State Cabinet recently discussed at length the formation of districts but deferred the decision awaiting certain data. He told the media that the government proposed enhancement of the number of Assembly constituencies to 225 soon, he said. The Union government has promised to accord statutory status for BC reservation on par with the SC/ST reservation, he said.
