  • Amaravati:: CPI(M) State secretary demands answer to MP Sivaprasad questions:: CPI(M) State secretary P.Madhu demanded the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to give answers to the questions raised by Chittoor TDP MP Sivaprasad. He said that the MP has clarified that the government is neglecting the Dalits. He added that the MP has asked the Chief Minister to regularize the lands to Dalits in Tirupati which left unheard. He reminded that Sivaprasad said that the government is grabbing lands in the name of land acquisition.
  • Amaravati:: Action against Sivaprasad is not correct’, says Ramakrishna:: CPI State secretary K.Ramakrishna on Sunday said that the Chief Minister is preparing to take action against Chittoor MP Sivaprasad instead of giving answers to the questions raised by him. He said that lands were not distributed to Dalits during TDP rule.
  • Chittoor:: Dairy, sericulture sectors to get a boost:: Industries Minister Amarnath Reddy on Sunday said that the governmetn was committed to ushering in 'milk and silk' revolution in the State. Addressing a public meeting at Palamaner, he said milk production in several parts of the State was very encouraging. He said the silk industry had ample scope to do well in the Rayalaeema region and tangible measures would be taken to give it a boost.
  • Kakinada:: Applications invited for MSIT courses:: Applications are invited for pursing Master of Sciences and Information Technology in JNTU-K according to Principal M.Veerabhadraiah in a statement on Saturday. The duration of the course is two years. Those interested can apply on or before May 16. The Graduate Aptitude test will be conducted on May 22 and the results will be released on June 2, he said.   • Kakinada:: One person dies of swine flu:: One Akasapu Babu Rao(65) who is undergoing treatment at Kakinada Government General Hospital for the last 20 days died of Swine Flu. He was shifted to Hyderabad for improved medical aid and was taken back to Kakinada GGH where he had his last breath.

  • Tirupati:: Plan to promote fencing sport in a big way:: The Andhra Pradesh Fencing Association has announced to create interest and develop fencing as a sport in the State. At the association's annual general meeting here on Sunday, its president K.V.Syamasundar Lal and general secretary N.Maheswara Rao said that they would organize State-level championship in Tirupati soon besides holding summer camps in all the districts for two months starting from April 26.
  • Vizianagaram:: Financier shot dead:: Jaganmohan, a native of Bobbili who runs a chit fund company in Visakhapatnam was shot at from behind by a habitual offender Kesava with a country made pistol at Gunnathotavalasa in Bobbili on Sunday. According to police sources, the accused nursed a grudge against the victim for maintaining a relationship with his fiancee. Jaganmohan was rushed to the Apollo hospital in Visakhapatnam where was stated to be recovering. Morning walkers overpowered Kesava and handed him to over police. Police registered a case u/s 307 of IPC.
