  • Guntur:: ACB conducts raids on the properties of DSP:: ACB teams led by DSP Rama Devi conducted raids on the houses belong to DSP, Police Training College, D.Durga Prasad on Wednesday and reportedly unearthed a huge haul of documents, sale deeds and cash disproportionate to his known sources of income. The investigation teams conducted simultaneous raids at 14 places including Chirala, Ongole, Guntur and Hyderabad. The seized documents included 14 residential plots in Prakasam district and seized documents relating to purchase of 11.70 acres in Budampadu.
  • Vijayawada:: ‘Will contest Council polls if party directs’, says Lokesh:: TDP National general secretary Nara Lokesh has hinted that he would contest for the Legislative Council elections if the party directs. He brushed aside reports that he would be inducted into the Cabinet shortly but in the same vein added ‘I will abide by the decisions of the party and I do not have any ambiguity’.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Special drive for students with backlogs:: Andhra University is taking up a special drive for candidates who have backlogs and want to take up betterment in BA, B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BBM, BCA, BHMCT course from 1991-92 to 2009-2010 under non-grading system. The candidates can download the examination applications from the website www.aucoe.info before March 31 and the examinations will be held in May or June.
  • Visakhapatnam:: First swine flu case detected:: The first swine flu positive case was detected in the city on Wednesday. According to DMHO Dr.J.Sarojini, a housewife in her early 30 tested positive and was put into isolation at a private hospital for treatment. She tested positive in her first test on Tuesday but we were waiting for confirmation in the second test. She said that people need not panic as sufficient medicines have been stocked up and each of the screening centres has been provided with isolation wards. Some of the screening centres are Government Hospital for Chest and Communicable diseases, KGH, INS Kalyani, Vizag Steel Hospital, Port Golden Jubilee Hospital, East Coast Railway Hospital and Community health centres in Narsipatnam, Araku and Paderu.
  • Visakhapatnam:: GITAM launches FinTech Academy:: GITAM university has launched FinTech Academy with a newly designed FinTech certificate programme on Wednesday. The programme was launched by GITAM Vice-Chancellor M.S.Prasada Rao.
