The Andhra Pradesh State government and the United National Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) have entered into a MoU to foster gender responsive governance.
Chief Secretary (Finance) Ajeya Kallam and UN Women India Deputy Representative Asa Trokelsson signed the MoU in the presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the National Women’s Parliament at Pavitra Sangamam on Saturday.
The MoU is proposed to deepen and expand collaboration to include interventions on ending violence and discrimination against women and girls, strengthening gender responsive planning and budgeting, strengthening gender responsive governance, enabling women’s access to resources and economic opportunities. The UN Women is expected to provide technical support to the State government to strengthen its efforts on gender-responsive planning and budgeting across sectors, eliminate violence and discrimination against women.
