Telangana Deputy Collectors urges AP to stop promotions in AP
Telangana Deputy Collectors Association has demanded the Andhra Pradesh government to stop the committee meeting to be held on Thursday. They submitted a memorandum to the Principal Commissioner of land administration Peter Raymond. They wanted to take up the promotion process after the division of State cadre officers else there would a loss to the deputy collectors working in Telangana and Rayalaseema, they said.
Farmer dies of heart attack following crop loss
A farmer Veerapatapudu died of cardiac arrest at Nallagatla village in Allagadda mandal in the district. He raised maize and green gram in 30 acres of leased land and the crop infested by pests due to lack of irrigation. His last ditch efforts to supply water to his crop by persuading KC Canal lascars to release water failed and suffered heart attack.
TDP MLA Butchaiah Chowdary fires on BJP MLA Dr.Akula Satyanarayana over allocation of houses
Senior TDP leader and Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary on Wednesday lashed out BJP MLA Dr.Akula Satyanarayana over the allocation of houses to the beneficiaries in the urban area. At a press conference, he said there was a provision for allocation of only 2,000 houses in all the 50 wards in Rajahmundry that means 40 houses had been allocated per ward whereas the city MLA was inviting thousands of applications from people by making false promises. He said that there was a provision for 4,200 houses in the city out of which 2,000 and odd should be allocated first to the poor on top priority and the remaining houses will be allocated. He questioned how the MLA or his henchmen take a draw in his hose without the presence of Revenue, Housing or Municipal officials? This is an absolute violation of norms, he said.
Two medicos meet watery grave
Two medicos of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Srikakulam were drowned near Matyalesam beach in Gara mandal today. The students have been identified as Anil Chandra (21) and Sandeep (20) both natives of Visakhapatnam district. Police said that 10 students went to the beach to have bath and enjoy themselves. These two students got drowned and their bodies were recovered in the evening.
Police conduct raids on money lendors
Viziangaram police today conducted raids at various places in the district on the houses of money lenders. The raids were conducted at Dubbada, Dayannapeta and town. They took 10 financiers into custody and seized many promissory notes.
Call Money Scandal - Transfers of police officers likely
The list of Circle Inspectors and Sub Inspectors who have allegedly supported the organizers of call money racket has been reportedly prepared and sent to the City Police Commissioner for approval. The Commissioner has ordered the officials to prepare a list following allegations of their alleged involvement/support to them. Sources said, the Police Commissioner may likely to clear the file approving their transfers shortly.
Malladi Vishnu applies for anticipatory bail
Former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu, the 9th accused in the illicit liquor case fined an anticipatory bail application in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge court on Wednesday. The matter has been posted for hearing on December 18. He went underground from the day his name surface in the spurious liquor in which five persons were dead and over 38 hospitalized.
Three-day dance festival from Friday
A three-day dance festival featuring some lesser-known dance forms is scheduled to begin on Friday at Kalabharati Auditorium. The three-day festival of dance being organized by Visakha Music and Dance Academy will have a Kuchipudi ballet, Bharatanatyam recital and a letter-known temple ritual dance Prenkhini Natyam.
BVK college to launch three diploma courses
BVK College will be launching two new diploma courses as part of ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal’ programme popularly known as ‘Skill Development Centre’ from December 23. The courses include two-year diploma in retail management and IT and one-year diploma in readymade garments. College principal G.Chandrasekhara Naidu said that 750 colleges from across the country had applied for the courses but only 48 were selected to run the programme and BVK is the only one in the State.
NREGS-Vizag tops in implementation
Visakhapatnam district stood first in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGS in the State going by five parameters decided by the government. Chittoor was second and Ananatapur third. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced of the same at the Collector’s meet.
