Two medicos drown in Ukraine

Kurnool:: Two medicos studying MBBS final year in Zaporizhia State Medical University, Ukraine drowned in the sea on Tuesday evening. The deceased were identified as M.Ashok Kumar of Railway Kodur in Kadapa district while the other P.Sivakanth Reddy of Ranga Reddy district of Telangana. They drowned when they attempted to save their classmates Abhilash and Mukesh.

SCR hikes platform ticket

Vijayawada:: In view of Dasara, the SCR is anticipating huge turnout of travellers as well as accompanying non-travellers at the Vijayawada Railway Station and to regulate the flow of people who enter platform and avoid inconvenience to the travelling public, the rate of platform ticket at the station will be enhanced from Rs.10 to Rs.20 for a period of 12 days from September 23 according to a press release.

Unlicensed medicines worth Rs.4 lakh seized

Rajamahendravaram:: The Drug Control Department on Thursday seized Rs.4 lakh worth unlicensed medicines from B.Kedari Venkatesh of Jayakrishnapuram. Assistant Director, Drug Control Department, T.Sreeram Murthy and drug inspectors raided the shop of Venkatesh and arrested him. Cases were filed under Section 18© of the D&C Act, 1940.

SC/ST panel office inauguration on October 5

Rajamahendravaram:: SC, ST Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji has said the commission’s office will be inaugurated at RTC Complex in Vijayawada on October 5. He was addressing the media after conducting an inquiry into petitions here on Thursday. He said there would be no delays in granting bank loans through the SC Corporation.

Stage set for Brahmotsavams

Tirupati:: The TTD authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the nine day annual Brahmotsavams scheduled to begin on Saturday. Exclusive entry and exit points have been set up for the benefit of devotees in the mada streets and supply of drinking water was in place. The temple complex is being illuminated. The TTD Hindu Dharma Parchara Parishad and the Annamacharya and Dasa Sahitya Projects have lined up a series of spiritual and cultural programmes both at Asthana Mandapam and Nada Neerajan Mandapam. The Brahmotsavams begin with ‘Dwajarohanam’ on Saturday evening. Garuda seva will be observed on September 27 and the procession of the golden chariot the following day.

Six new High Court judges sworn in

Hyderabad:: Six new judges were sworn in for the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday. Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan administered the oath to them. The swearing in ceremony was held in the packed court hall of the Chief Justice. After sworn in ceremony, the newly appointed judges commenced their work in the Division Benches.
