14 year jail term for cheating minor

Vizianagaram:: The Additional District Judge Court sentenched Ch.Santosh, a youth of Addurivanipalem in Kothavalasa mandal to 14 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1.25 lakh on him for having a relationship with a minor girl for some time and deserting her later. A case was registered under POCSO Act at Kothavalasa police station in 2015.

Rs.1.94 crore demonetized currency seized

Rajamahendravaram:: The Urban police today seized Rs.1.94 crore worth demonetized currency and arrested two persons belonging to Tadepalligudem of West Godavari. Speaking to media, SP B.Rajakumari said the police on a tip off raided a house on JN Road and arrested Vanga Durga Sridhar and Kodavati Eswara Rao and seized the currency. The accused allegedly said they wanted to exchange demonetized currency on 25% commission basis.

’Efforts to strengthen BJP in all seats’, says Veerraju

Vijayawada:: BJP national executive member and MLC Somu Veeraraju says that the efforts are being made to take the party closer to the people in all the 175 Assembly constituencies in the State. Addressing a press conference here today, he said that the financial assistance extended by the Centre to the State, welfare schemes, and projects sanctioned to the State would be highlighted during the interactions with the people.

Committee appointed for promotions in TTD

Amaravati:: The Endowments department has constituted a committee for preparing a seniority list for promotions in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The Principal Secretary (Revenue) will be the chairman while Secretary, General Administration, Endowment Commissioner and TTD EO will be the members. The Principal Secretary, Endowments Manmohan Singh has today issued orders to this effect.

Funds hiked for additional MBBS seats

Amaravati:: The Medical and Health Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah has issued orders hiking the funds to three medical colleges following increase of MBBS seats. The funds will be utilized for the additional seats in RIMS, Srikakulam where the seats have been increased to 150 from 100, Kadapa RIMS from 100 to 150 seats, Government Medical College, Anantapur from 100 to 150 seats. Rs.60 crore would be spent for each medical college. The share of the Centre would be Rs.49.53 crore while of the State government is Rs.16.26 crore. The government has permitted for release of Rs.180 crore.
