Kakinada:: Observing that the farm loan waiver being implemented by the State government helped accelerate the economic growth on Monday said the double digit growth was the result of significant contribution from the farm sector. Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa distributed Rs.10.37 crore to 15,825 farmers from Peddapuram town and interacted with them. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government was keen on the overall development of agriculture sector.
Vijayawada:: The Union Surface Transport Ministry has released Rs.145.98 crore under the Central Road Fund Scheme to the State. AP Resident Commissioner Praveen Prakash met officials of various departments in New Delhi to discuss about pending issues. He requested them to release pending dues to the State under Central Assistance Scheme, PMKY and other schemes.
Chittoor:: The Railway Protection Force personnel during a week-long drive, seized more than three tonnes of free ration rice from Tamil Nadu. RPF Sub Inspector said smuggling operatives were transporting the ration rice from various parts of Tamil Nadu predominantly depending on trains between Chennai and Renigunta. The modus operandi would be to dump the bags in toilets and vestibules and the agents concerned at the specified locations collect them. The seized goods was handed over to the Tehsildar. It is said that the network disposes of the free Tamil Nadu rice at Rs.20 to Rs.25 a kg to hotels and traders in various parts of the State.
Vizianagaram:: YSRCP MLC Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy has said that though he quit as a the party co-ordinator of the Vizianagaram Assembly Constituency, he would remain active and loyal to the party. He said in a release late on Sunday evening that he quit the party Assembly co-ordinator post due to personal reasons and also because he was unable to work with local leaders as the situation the Assembly constituency is not conducive. He also declared that he was not in the race for the party ticket for the next general elections.
Ongole:: Noted Telugu play writer, script writer and actor M.V.S.Haranatha Rao died of cardiac arrest on Monday. He was 70 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. He wrote dialogues for over 150 films including Nandi award winning films like ‘ Pratighatana’, ‘Bharata Nari’, ‘Anna’, and ‘Ammayi Kapuram’. He penned screenplay for over 150 films and also acted in 20 films and won acclaim for his stellar performance in ‘Rakshasudu’ and ‘Swayamkrushi’.
Vijayawada:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will visit three countries – USA, UK and UAE from October 18 to 26. He will receive Golden Peacock award for Corporate Governance and Sustainability and will attend Institute of Fellowship and Leadership award meeting in UK. He is also scheduled to meet Foster+Partners during his three-day visit.
