Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam revenue crosses Rs.6 crore

Vijayawada:: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam revenue crossed over Rs.6 crore during the recently concluded Dasara festival. The temple received about Rs.4 crore through darshan and rituals tickets and prasadam sales. The temple also received Rs.2.4 crore as cash receipts from devotees and 485 grams of gold and silver ornaments weighing 12,010 kg according to authorities.

Pavitrotsavam from October 14

Tirumala:: The celestial three-day ritual of Pavitrotsavam will be held from October 15 to 17 in Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple as Srinivasa Managapuram with Ankurarpanam marking the commencement of the festival on October 14 The ritual is held once a year to ward off wrong doings either by temple staff or devotees with practices such as Alaya Shuddi and Punyavachanam.

Will file defamation case against YSRCP leaders’, says KEK

Kurnool:: Deputy Chief Minister K.E.Krishna Murty said here on Sunday that he would file a defamation case against the YSRCP leaders who had moved the court accusing his son and Pathikonda constituency in charge K.E.Shyam Babu of being a member of the sand mafia. The court inquired with the revenue, mining and police officials and closed the matter, he told the media.

Telukula sangham seeks welfare corporation

Srikakulam:: The Akhila Gandla Telukula Samkshema Sangham today urged the government to constitute a welfare corporation for the community as over 65% its members were living below the poverty line. Its State honorary president K.L.Prasad said the community was badly affected following closure of oil mills. He was speaking at the State level meeting of the association here today.

Chittoor:: Chittoor SP S.V.Rajasekhar Babu said that the department will get it thoroughly inquired and take appropriate action. The SP said that police personnel, voluntary organizations and social groups at the grassroots level would be involved to eradicate the evil. If necessary, awareness campaigns would be undertaken, he said.

One hundred farmers for Singapore trip

Vijayawada:: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department has selected 100 farmers from a group of 123 for a trip to Singapore for showing them the development there. The farmers were selected through a lottery in the presence of Municipal Administration Minister P.Narayana and CRDA Commissioner Ch.Sreedhar. The remaining would be taken on the tour later. The objective of the tour is to show the farmers what makes cities world class. The farmers have arranged their passports and are being the cost of travel while the government of AP and Singapore were taking care of the expenditure on their board and lodging and visiting Singapore.
