Vijayawada:: Nadipalli Shiva Charan (7) was allegedly murdered by a kidnapper gang at Ranigarithota in the city. His body was recovered from Bandar canal today. The Krishnalanka police arrested two persons, Shaik Mastan and a juvenile in the case. City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang said Mastan, an ice cream vendor picked up the boy when he came to buy ice cream on Friday evening. When the boy did not turn up at 10.30pm, his father N.Kanaka Rao approached the police and at 11.45pm, the minor accused called up Kanaka Rao and demanded Rs.1 lakh for his release. Bud by that time, Mastan had killed the boy.

Vizianagaram:: The police have launched vehicle checking at Kotarubilli junction and seized 21 bags containing 792.86 kg ganja worth Rs.15 lakh from four vehicles and arrested nine persons. Superintendent of Police G.Pala Raju speaking at a press conference said tht they were Vydram Sharma (26), Azad (32), Virender Singh (38), Satya Mehar (28), Sanathan Kar (31), Eswar Badnayak (25), Podugu Balaji (29), Pradeep Kumar (21) and Sundarshan Panigrahi (22). He said three persons have escaped. A case was registered under NDPS Act, 1985.
Kirlampudi:: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham was confined to his house on Saturday, a day after he unveiled his plan to embark on 'Aatmeeya Palakaripu' in the Konaseema region. Policemen led by Peddapuram DSP Ch.Ramarao went to Mudragada's house and told him that there was no permission to take out the motorcycle rally proposed in the P.Gannavaram constituency on Sunday as part of the 'Aatmeeya Palakarimpu' programme. However, the DSP said that Mudragada is free to go alone anywhere, attend and function and visit anyone personally. He was advised against taking out rallies. Amalapuram DSP Prasanna Kumar said that Section 30 of Police Act was in force, they would not allow any rallies, meetings or congregations in Konaseema.
Tirupati:: The Chittoor police today booked notorious red sanders smuggler Haji Nasir (48)from Bengaluru under the Preventive Detention Act following orders from District Collector and shifted him to Kadapa Central Prison. Chittoor SP S.V.Rajasekhara Babu said that Nasi hailing from Old Pension Mohalla of Bengaluru was involved in red sanders smuggling from 2014 and used his contacts to export the logs to international market. He reportedly transported nearly 1000 tonnes of red sanders and has 20 cases registered against him.

He said that many students are showing interest in watching moviews and following film personalities and prefer films for entertainment. But some youth are fully focussing on movies and ignoring many important issues', he said. He here participating in the Jatiya Swadeshi Suraksha Udyamam organized by Swadesi Jagaran Manch along with other Swadesi Jagaran leaders on Saturdya. He explained about former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Swamy Vivekananda, engineer Mokshagundam Visweswaraiah, Chatrapati Sivaji, M.S.Swaminathan and Kargil war hero Yogendra Singh Yadav. He asked the students to train their body, mind, word in a proper way and help in the development of the country.
