Girl student of IIIT reportedly missing

Kurnool:: Anita, a first year student of IIIT at Idupulapaya in Kakinada district allegedly missing from the campus since Sunday evening. The IIIT officials detected that Anitha, a native of Irusumanda in Ambajipeta mandal of the East Godavari district was missing from the campus. A complaint has been lodged with the police. The RK Valley police registered a case and launched a search for the girl.

Four of a family commit suicide

Peravali (East Godavari):: Four members of a family allegedly committed suicide on Monday evening by jumping into River Vasista Godavari. According to police sources, the head of the family, Bobbili Nagaraju (37) who runs a petty business reportedly ran into debts. On Monday evening, Nagaraju and his wife, Varalakshmi (28) along with their children Chandrika (8) and Bala Manikyam (9) went to river Vasista Godavari near Siddhantam on a bike. They left the bike and chappals on the bank of the river and allegedly jumped into the rivers. The bodies are yet to be traced.

Man convicted for rape of six-year-old girl

Ongole:: A 47 year old man was on Monday convicted under Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act and sentenced to ten year rigorous imprisonment for raping a six-year-old girl at Veernapalem in Prakasam district. Additional District Judge Ramesh Babu upheld the prosecution case that the man took the girl to a tobacco field after offering goodies and sexually assaulted her. The unfortunate incident took place on November 18 last year and the accused was nabbed a day later by the Parchur police. The convicted also imposed a fine of Rs.1,000.

Government sanctions Rs.4 crore for Greyhounds

Amaravati:: The State government has given administrative clearance of Rs.4 crore for the works relating to Greyhounds. The government Principal Secretary A.R.Anuradha informed that the clearance was issued based on the recommendations of the Greyhounds ADG.
