AP boy studying in IIT Kottayam commits suicide

Mamidikuduru (EG Dist.):: Ganta Sunil Kumar (18) of Magathapalli village of Mamidikuduru mandal of East Godavari studying in IIIT Kottayam in Kerala allegedly committed suicide on Thursday. According to police sources, the deceased’s mother Lakshmin Narasamma received a phone call from the college on Thursday evening that her son committed suicide. The boy studied Intermediate in Vignan College, Gunter is a topper. He joined IIIT in August. When the boy did not turn up for lunch on Thursday, his roommates and collage management went to his room and found him hanging from ceiling fan.

’Meetings may lead to breach of peace’, says DGP

Vijayawada:: DGP N.Sambasiva Rao has said that permission was denied for the two meetings as there were chances of breach of peace and law and order problems. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order. It may be recalled that Section 144 of IPC and Section 50 of Police Act was promulgated in the city. City Police Commissioner D.Gautam Sawang said that notices have been served on 299 persons including Prof.Kancha Iliah, L.Jai Babu, president, Reservation Porata Samithi, K.V.Bala Krishna Murty, president Arya Vysya Brahmana Ikya Vedika and their followers. The officers appealed them to restrain from organizing any meetings in the city on Saturday. It may be recalled that Police clamps Section 144 of IPC for 45 days in the city.

Three fake Naxalites held

Rajamahendravaram:: The Urban Police have arrested three pseudo Naxalites and seized Rs.1 lakh cash and two motor cycles form them. Superintendent of Police B.Raja Kumar said that Rayi Gopi of Dommeru, Ravelaseety Uma Maheswara Rao of Kovvur and Pendem Veera Venkata Satyanarayana of Athili in West Godavari were involved in an extortion case. According to police sources, these three had threatened a relator to pay Rs.3 crore a week ago and after bargaining with them, he agreed to pay Rs.1 core. He asked his clerk to place it on the gammon Bridge as was sought and on coming to know that they had been misled, the accused threatened the realtor by calling him on his mobile from Kunta by chaning 21 SIM cards. Police investigated the case by tracking the mobile signals and the SP said that they have thrown the mobiles in a pond to evade being tracked.

Capital designs will be finalized within 40 days

Vijayawada:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has asserted that the designs for buildings in the capital city would be finalized in about 40 days. The construction work would begin before or after Sankranti. In an informal talk with pressmen, he said that film director Rajamouli gave valuable suggestions regarding the designs and played a crucial role in finalizing them. Except designs for the Assembly building, those for the remaining structures were almost finalized, he said.

Rs.568.08 crore for Polavaram project

Amaravati:: The Finance Secretary M.Ravichandra today issued orders releasing Rs.568.08 crore for Polavaram project. It may be recalled that Rs.2,272.35 crore was allotted in the 2017-18 financial budget. The State government so far released Rs.1,136.17 crore. The finance department has agreed to release Rs.568.08 crore.

IFS Officer Ramprasada Rao was placed under suspension

Tanuku:: Central Forest Development Council General Manager IFS officer Mutyala Ramprasada Rao was suspended. The suspension follows allegations against him of amassing huge unaccounted wealth during the recent raids by CBI and unearthed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.150 crore. The CBI has registered cases against him, his wife Kanaka Durg and his personal assistant I. Ganapati Sarma. The suspension orders were served on him on October 25.

Rs.20 crore released for ‘Jalasiri’ programme

Amaravati:: The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development in-charge special Principal Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha has today released Rs.20 crore for digging of bore wells under NTR Jalasiri programme along with installation of solar pump sets.

Navodaya entrance test on February 10

Guntur:: Navodaya Vidya Samithi, Hyderabad Zone Deputy Director M.Yugandhar said that the admissions into class 6 in Navodaya schools will be held on February 10 next year. The students have to apply before November 25. He said that the entrance test will be online one. The students studying class 5 can apply through Mee-Seva and in case of any difficulties, students can apply through offline to the respective Principals, he said.
