’Vidita’ bags Telugu University award

Guntur:: City based writer Penugonda Lakshminarayana’s book ‘Vidita’ has been given the best literary critique award by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. The book has 60 essays explaining the history of the revolutionary movement, Arasam and progressive literary trends in Telugu. He is at present secretary of the All India Progressive Writers’ Association. He has authored about 40 books.

Ratna Kumar takes as CRDA Additional Commissioner

Vijayawada:: G.Ratna Kumar, an Indian Telecommunication Service officer took charge as Additional Commissioner of APCRDA on Friday. He had earlier worked as Secretary (Housing) and managing director of AP Irrigation Development Corporation.

Vijaya Sai Reddy make YSRCP’s national general secretary

Attack on journalist widely condemned

AP Working Journalists’ Federation State secretary Gantla Srinubabu and city president P.Narayan and Broadcast Association= district president Eroti Eswara Rao have condemned the attack on Venkata Krishnaiah, a reporter of Sakshi at Allagadda. Alleging that the attack was carried out by the followers of Akhila Priya and demanded that those responsible be arrested immediately.

AP Finance Special Secretary promises to clear arrears

Vijayawada:: APNGOA president P.Ashok Babu said that the Special Secretary (Finance) M.Ravi Chandra agreed to clear the 10 instalments of the 10th Pay Revision Commission arrears soon. He said in a press release that Ravi Chandra gave this assurance in response to a memorandum submitted by the APNGOA to the Finance Minister.

Sub-Inspector suspended on charge of sexual harassment

Nellore:: Sydapuram Sub Inspector K.Yedukondalu was suspended following charges of sexual harassment of a woman sarpanch of Utukuru village in Gudur revenue division of Nellore district. As the alleged harassment continued for over four months, sarpanch Manchu Padmaja and his relatives had taken the issue to the higher authorities and complained against the SI. Superintendent of Police P.H.D.Ramakrishna had ordered an investigation into the charge and was found to have exhibited gross misconduct and misbehaved with Padmaja. He also got her husband Seshadri arrested and sent to judicial remand by implicating him in false case. After a thorough examination, the DIG of the South Coastal Zone had issued the suspension orders.

TDP-TS legislature meet on October 26

Hyderabad:: The TDP Telangana State has convened a meeting of the legislative party on October 26, a day ahead of the commencement of the Assembly session to discuss about the strategies that should be adopted in the ensuing session. TDP-TS working president A.Revanth Reddy has invited all the senior leaders including former MLAs and MPs to participate in the meeting being held at the party’s headquarters NTR Trust Bhavan.

Puja timings changed at Srisailam temple on the eve of Karteekamasam

Srisailam:: On the eve of Karteeka Masam, the Executive Officer of Srisailam Devasthanam said that puja timings have been changed. As part of it, Every Karteeka Saturday, Sunday and Monday before November 18 and Karteeka sudda Ekadasi, Karteeka Poornima and on government holidays, the Suprabhata seva begins at 2.45am, Maha Mangala Harati at 3am and darshan to the devotees will be allowed from 3.30am.
