IIIT Nuzvid girl student commit suicide

Nuzvid:: A first year PUC student of IIIT, Nuzvid campus Dabbaka Ramadevi (16) allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the hostel building on Saturday. She hails from Vandanampeta village of Srikakulam district. This is the second suicide in RGUKT IIIT in the last four days. Students who noticed shifted her to the campus dispensary where the doctors referred her to Vijayawada and died while undergoing treatment. The body was shifted to GGH, Vijayawada and investigation was going on.

Tremors in Anantapur district

Anantapur:: Tremors were felt in four villages of the Beluguppa and Uravakonda mandals of the district on Saturday evening. They were felt for around nine seconds in the Ramasagaram and Jeedipalli village of the Beluguppa mandal besides the Y.Rampuram and Mylarampalli villages of Uravakonda mandal. First hand reports suggested that a few cement topped roads had developed deep cracks and were damaged in the sections and the traffic passing by the villages screeched to a halt.

VRO dies of Dengue

Chittoor:: The dengue took a new twist with the death of a Village Revenue Officer and hospitalization of a Panchayat Secreary in the district on Saturday while several more cases of dengue and viral fevers continue to threaten the rural side. According to sources, Suresh (25) VRO of Varadaiahpalem was rushed to hospital in Tirupati a couple of days ago as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to the fever on Saturday while undergoing treatment. So far 14 deaths were reported so far.

TTD plans to increase laddu production

Tirumala:: The TTD is planning to modernize its potu at Tirumala. The officers were instructed to come with proposals for the modernization of the kitchen so as to boost the production to at least five lakh a day. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal said the need for purchase of additional boondi frying machines as well as construction of platforms for the preparation of saccharine balls was felt and that would be addressed soon.

Red sanders seized and six arrested

Tirupati:: Police raided a godown at Bommasandra Industrial Area in Bengaluru and seized 235 red sanders logs. They arrested six persons in this connection while they were smuggling on Friday night. Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty said that the confession by two red sanders smuggling operatives led to the raid on the godown. The arrested are Maddela Prasad, Kummalamala Abhishek, L.Vignesan, R.Periya Swamy, R.Balakrishna and M.Sankar all are from Tamil Nadu.

’Jala Deeksha’ by Concast Ferro workers foiled

Srikakulam:: Fifty workers of Concast Ferro Inc were taken into custody by the police today when they tried to stage ‘Jala Deeksha’ near the Nagavali seek immediate revival of the factory that had stopped its operations three months ago.

37 DSPs given postings

Vijayawada:: DGP N.Sambasiva Rao issued posting orders for 37 DSPs in the State on Friday. The DSPs were posted in Vigilance, CID, Traffic and other wings in various districts.
