Kurnool:: A farmer Bariki Veerendra (32) committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his agricultural field at Pathikonda in the district due to increased debts. He who owned four and a half acre took 10 acres on lease and raised groundnut and tomato. He incurred a debt of Rs.4 lakh owing to crop loss. He went to water his field on Sunday night and ended his life. As he did not return, his wife Maheshwari and relatives went to the field on Monday morning and found his body. Police registered a case.
Tirumala:: Senior archaka Khadripati Narasimhacharyulu taking objection to the alleged remarks made by chief priest A.V.Ramana Dikshitulu as carried in a section of press. Speaking to media at Archaka Nilayam, he alleged that they were always subjected to humiliation at the hands of Ramana Dikshitulu though they shared equal cadre as ‘Sambhavana’ archakas. ‘ It is we who carry out all the religious chores inside the temple every day. Dikshitulu frequently refers us as contract archakas and we feel degraded each time such a reference is made. We do not have nay complaints working under the other three erstwhile mirasidar families. But we find it hard working during the turn of Ramana Dikshitulu.
Vijayawada:: The national council of the CPI will be held here from January 8 to 10 in which several leaders will take part according to CPI State secretary K.Ramakrishna. Speaking to media, he said the meeting was significant as a road map would be prepared for the party’s functioning in future after addressing the political developments since 2015 when the last national meeting was held at Puducherry. Issues like GST, demonetization and rise of Hindu fundamentalism severely vitiated the political atmosphere in the country.
Amaravati:: The State government has decided to allot 25 cents of land for construction of party offices in all Assembly constituencies to all political parties ( both national and regional). The lease period is for 33 years and allotted political party has to pay Rs.1,000 per year to the government.
Amaravati:: The State Government has reduced the minimum stay in a particular area to two years from three years on the recommendations of the APPSC. Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar has today issued orders to this effect.
Amaravati:: The Summative examinations in all schools will be held from December 15 to 22. A GO has been issued today by the Department of School Education. The examinations for High Schools will commence from December 15 and Elementary Schools from December 19 and will end on December 22.
Hyderabad:: The Union Ministry for HRD has directed to allot 14% of seats in all 23 IITs for the academic year 2018-19 including Indian School of Mines at Dhanbad.
