Chilli Price Support Scheme did not benefit genuine farmers

Guntur:: Guntur West MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy today said the Chilli Support Scheme introduced by the government did not benefit the genuine farmers. Under it, the farmers were credited Rs.1,500 per quintal above the MSP. He said in the Assembly that the scheme failed to achieve the desired result./ He said 50 lakh quintals of chilli arrived this season but the information furnished by the Marketing department shows that payments have been made in respect of just 15 lakh quintals which is just 15 per cent of the total production, he said.

No Cabinet reshuffle’, says Lokesh

Vijayawada:: Minister for Panchayat Raj and IT Minister Nara Lokesh ruled out that there is no likely for a Cabinet reshuffle as was reported in a section of media. He said that the Minister for Tourism Bhuma Akhila Priya’s performance was good. She is doing a fine job and has a bright future, he said. She successfully conducted the Hot Air Balloon festival in Araku and the Social Media Summit in Vijayawada. He, however said that the Chief Minister expressed anger over the boat tragedy at a strategy meeting on Monday reportedly commented that the Ministers used to resign on moral grounds which such things happened that triggered speculation that the CM had plans for a Cabinet reshuffle.

Infant dies due to lack of oxygen in ambulance

Eluru:: An infant allegedly died on Monday while being taken to a hospital in an ambulance which the oxygen cylinder reportedly got exhausted during the journey and there was no spare cylinder in the vehicle. The relatives of the baby staged a dharna in front of the Eluru Government Hospital on Tuesday demanding action against the ambulance staff and others responsible. Hospital superintendent A.R.Mohan said he had constituted a committee and would take action based on its report by Wednesday. The ambulance belongs to Eluru government hospital.

Additional bogies for inter-city express

Guntur:: Additional bogies will be arranged for inter city express Train No. 12795/12796 from Vijayawada-Secunderabad-Vijayawada from November 29 according to Guntur Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Umamaheswara Rao. He said that the decision was taken in view of the increasing rush of passengers.
