Man killed in acid attack

Guntur:: A newly married man died after his jilted girlfriend allegedly threw acid on him at the Venigandla village in Peda Kakani mandal. The man got married only two days ago. The deceased was identified as Ilyas. The police identified the attacker as Hima Bindu, a native of Pamulapadu village in Tadikonda mandal and had been working at a pharmacy for a year. She was staying at a working women’s hostel in Guntur, she allegedly developed a relationship with Ilyas which continued for four years. On Tuesday, the women called a friend of Ilyas and reportedly said she wanted to get back her photographs from him. Ilyas met her and during a heated conversation, she allegedly splashed acid across his face. The injured was rushed to Guntur General Hospital where he died on the way.

VRO dismissed from service

Vizianagaram:: Village Revenue officer Ch.Dutta Rao of Garugubilli cluster, Merakamudidam mandal has been dismissed from service for cheating Andhra Bank, Cheepurupalli branch of Rs.90,000 by submitting fake pattadar pass book in 2009. An inquiry ordered by the then District Collector established his fraudulent act. Orders to this effect were served on him after the final verdict of the AP Appellate Tribunal according to an official release.

Congress stages protest against Amit Shah

Vizianagaram:: The DCC led by its president Yedla Adiraju staged a protest at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar statue at Balaji junction on the eve of BJP National president Amit Shaw’s scheduled meeting with the party cadres in Vijayawada on Thursday. They raised slogans like ‘Amit Shah go back’ and ‘Modi down down’ for not fulfilling the promises made to the people of the State.

Jagan Mohan Reddy to New Zealand on Thursday

Vijayawada:: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is leaving for a fortnight long holiday to New Zealand with family members on Thursday night. He will return on June 10 according to party sources.
