Tenant farmer commits suicide

Anantapur:: A tenant farmer Chilakala Narayana (50) of Bondaladinne village of Tadipatri mandal of the district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree following heavy burden of debts. According to sources, he has been a tenant farmer taking on lease farms of different acreages over the past few years, all of which had left him in debts. The police shifted the body to the Tadipatri Government General Hospital for postmortem.

Transworld garnet workers arrested

Srikakulam:: As many as 93 workers of Transworld Garnet India Private Limited located in Gara mandal of the district were arrested today when they were protesting at the Collector’s office. CITU State vice-president D.Govinda Rao alleged that the company failed to enhance the salary of the workers and employees despite their strike for the last two months. He urged the District Collector K.Dhanunjaya Reddy to direct the company to implement Labour laws.

Land acquisition in State capital purview

Thullur (Tadikonda):: The CRDA today issued another notifications for acquiring lands of 110 acres in Lingayapalem in Thullur mandal and 183 acres land in Navuluru in Mangalagiri mandal. Objections if any can be sent within 60 days from the date of issue of notifications said Guntur District Collector Kona Sasidhar. He said that the notified lands should not be sold or purchased.

Lakhmipati has been appointed as chairman of APMSIDC

Amaravati:: R.Lakhmipati has been appointed as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation. The Principal Secretary of Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah has issued orders today.

ACB conduct raids on checkposts

Dachepalli/Garikapadu (Jaggayyapeta):: The ACB has conducted raids on two check posts. The officials conducted raids in the wee hour of Friday at Dachepalli mandal check post and seized Rs.33,230 unauthorized money. In another raid that was conducted at Garikapadu in Jaggayyapeta mandal of Krishna district, the officials seized unauthorized amount of Rs.30,700.

Applications are invited for PG courses in Acharya NG Ranga university

Guntur:: Acharya NG Ranga University Registrar TV Satyanarayana in a release today said that applications are invited for admissions into PG courses like PHDO in agriculture, PhD in housing technology, M.Sc (Agriculture), M.Tech (Agriculture engineering), MBA, Agribusiness management courses. Polytechnic admission schedule announced

Amaravati:: The Technical Education department today announced the schedule for admissions into polytechnic courses across the State. The certificate verification will be held on May 30 and web counselling options are from June 2 to 7 and allotment of seats will be on June 10. The classes would commence from June 12.

Overseas Education scheme for Minority students

Amaravati:: Minority welfare department Commissioner Sh.Mohd.Iqbal said that the students from minority community seeking higher education abroad wil be given RS.10 lakh. The students whose parental income is below Rs6 lakh per annum are eligible to apply. The selected candidates would be given Rs.5 lakh in the first phase and another Rs.5 lakh in the second phase. He said that so far 32 student have been selected for the scheme. Likewise, training will be given free of cost for those aspiring for competitive examinations under NTR Vidyonnathi scheme.
