  • Tirupati:: ‘World Spiritual Festival from March 23 to 25:: Tirupati will host to the prestigious World Spiritual Fest’ from March 23 to 25. It is conducted by the Tourism Department in partnership with Sri Sri Art of Living Knowledge and Vibri media, Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar is among the renowned spiritual gurus invited to address the public during the festival. District Collector P.S.Pradyumna released a poster on the festival today.
  • Amaravati:: MLAs urge stern action against errant corporate colleges:: MLAs Palle Raghunatha Reddy, T.Shravan Kumar and V.Prabhakar Chowdary voiced serious concern on the alleged lack of regulation of private educational institutions. Responding to the reply of Agricultural Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy who was officiating for HRD Minister to a question on free education to the poor during the question hour, Shravan Kumar said private schools continued to do good business by calling themselves ‘Olympiad’, ‘Model’ ‘techno schools and so on without apparently producing the desired results. Raghunath Reddy said that the government was spending Rs.6,000 crore on fee reimbursement and asked if there was any monitoring of the fee being collected by private schools. In reply, Chandramohan Reddy said 284 colleges were de-recognized during last year for violation of rules and promised to get the matters raised by the members investigated.
  • Visakhapatnam:: District Collector drives electric car to office:: District Collector Pravin Kumar today drove an electric car to his office. According to him, Visakhapatnam is the first to officially use pollution-free electric car in the entire country. He expressed his happiness in his driving it first. The city that set a trend by introducing LED lights after Hudhud Cyclone damaged its streetlights, notched up another first, he said. Visakhapatnam will get a total of 110 cars to be used in government offices. The vehicles will be provided Energy Efficiency Services Limited. Besides, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Kakinada are the other cities that will get electric cars.
  • Amaravati: 24,209 vacancies lying in state government departments:: AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that there were 24,209 vacancies lying vacant in various departments of the government as on February 2018. MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao speaking on the issue said that there were 1.42 lakh posts lying vacant in 2014 and would increase to 1.85 lakhs.
  • Amaravati:: Special Financial Package announced with the consent of TDP:: BJP MLA P.Vishnu Kumar Raju said that the Centre has in consultation and consent with the TDP has announced the Special Assistance Package to the State in 2016. The TDP has agreed for Rs.16,000 crore . He said the same while speaking thanks to governor’s speech occasion.
