  • Naval team from Japan visits ENC:: Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of Japanese Self Defence Forces, accompanied by a five-member delegation arrived here on a day’s visit to the Eastern Naval Command today. Admiral Kawano met Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC and held discussions on issues of common interest. The delegation was briefed about the activities of the Command.
  • Vijayawada:: APSRTC to relaunch e-wallet:: The APSRTC will be relaunching e-wallet facility with revised features from March 8 to provide quicker advance reservation for long-distance services. This e-wallet account can be opened with zero balance and the e-wallet holder can have 5% cash back over the basic ticket amount after journey made on the strength of ticket purchased through e-wallet. The account holder also gets instant refund of fare against cancellation of ticket purchased through this mode and he/she can transfer money to another e-wallet swiftly without incurring any cost.
  • Amaravati:: 22,000 applications received for EAMCET:: As of now, 22,000 candidates have applied for EAMCET said its convener Prof.Saibabu. Out of this, 12,000 are for engineering, 10,000 for Agriculture, Pharma courses. The applications will be verified through online for the first time. Notification has been issued on Tuesday for Lawcet and Edcet. Applications will be accepted from March 8 to April 5 without any late fee. The Edcet will be held on April 19. Applications for Lawcet will be accepted from March 9 and the test will be held on April 19, he said.
  • Vijayawada:: ‘We have increased the wages of home guards’, says Home Minister:: AP Home Minister N. Chinarajappa said that the government has increased the wages of home guards from Rs.300 to Rs.400 and a proposal to enhance it further is under consideration. He ruled out providing uniform allowance, pollution allowance, diet charges, maternity leave and medical treatment to the home guards. The government is paying Parade Allowance of Rs.28 per month. It is providing one pair of uniform and various articles every year. The government has also enhanced the ex gratia under the Group Personal Accident Insurance claim from Rs.2.5 lakh to Rs.5 lakh in case of accidental death while in service, he said. This was contracted by BJP MLA P.Vishnu Kumar Raju saying that neighboring Telangana government was paying Rs.675 per day.
