  • HYDERABAD: Indian Aviation 2016:: A five day civil aviation show will be opened on March 16 at Begumpet airport which will be attended by delegations from over 25 countries. President of India Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to inaugurate the event. The first three days will be for business visitors only while on March 19 and 20, the show will be open to public. A release from the organizers said that over 200 participants are expected to take part and CFM, UTC, GE Aviation, Rolls Royce, Pratt and Whitney would showcase their products. Dassault, Agusta Westland, bell, Russian, Airbus helicopters will take part in the show.
  • Rohit Vemula case rocks Telangana State Assembly:: The suicide of Rohit Vemula, a Ph.D student of University of Hyderabad on January 17 echoed in Telangana Assembly on Saturday with the Congress MLA S.A.Sampath Kumar made a mention of it during the debate. He said that even the State Government actions did not help create any confidence among the sections aggrieved over the student’s suicide. He said tht there were no arrests even as TRS Floor leader Jithender Reddy had state in Parliament that the Chief Minister had ordered the arrest of those who were responsible.
  • ONGOLE: RTC to introduce 1,500 new buses:: Minister of Transport Sidda Raghava Rao on Saturday said that 1,500 new buses would be added to APSRTC’s fleet this year in addition to 1,000 news buses that were put into service last year. He said that new mobile app would be introduced soon to help the passengers track their buses with the help of smart phones. The State government would undertake a Rs. 3,184-crore project interconnecting roads from villages, mandals, district and State-level roads, the Centre would provide Rs. 1,00,000 crore for upgrading national highways in the State and developing a Rs. 22,000-crore Outer Ring Road at Amaravati, he said.
  • UNGUNTUNURU (W.G): DSP van hits VRO killing him on the spot:: Chief Minister’s peshi DSP van today hit Kukkunur VRO Neduri Shanmukha Rambabu (44) who was going on a bike here and died on the spot. After the accident, the driver of the van instead of stopping proceeded and the villagers chased the van and seized it on the national highway.
  • SANKHAVARAM: Former MLA Chittibabu died of heart attack:: Former MLA Chittibabu who represented Prattipadu constituency in the Assembly for a period of five years from 2009 died of heart attack after a brief illness on Sunday. Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu consoled the family members of Parvatha Sri Satyanarayana Murty (Chittibabu) president of the TDP East Godavari unit. Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and TDP leaders from the district paid their respects to the departed leader.
  • SRIKAKULAM: Santi Kalyanam performed:: District Collected P.Lakshmi Narasimhan on Sunday said that the devotional activities would make people follow the path of Dharma and help understand the greatness of Hindu culture and tradition. He participated in the Santi Kalyanam organized by Kaushik Committee in TTD Kalyana Mandapam to mark the completion of ‘Sukravara Parayana Mahotsavam’ and ‘Venkateswara Swamy Ganamritam’ programmes that had been conducted in various colonies in the last three years. Over 1,000 devotees have participated in the event.
  • KURNOOL: Vice-sarpanch commits suicide:: Pooli Bala Anki Reddy, vice-sarpanch of Krishnamsettipalli of Giddalur mandal in Prakasam district committed suicide by hanging himself in the hotel room of the AP Tourism Development Corporation at Mahanandi, a pilgrim centre in the district on Sunday. He is survived by wife Nagamani and two sons. Police registered a case and are investigating.
  • VISAKHAPATNAM:Completion of Polavaram project is State’s responsibility’, says Haribabu:: BJP State president and Visakhapatnam MP Khambhampati Haribabu said that the completion of Polavaram project is the responsibility of the State Government. He said that the Centre will only extend financial assistance and the responsibility of completion rests on the State Government, he said.
  • Bike racing – six arrested:: The police in a joint operation by special police teams from Bhogapuram and Denkada of Vizianagaram near Nathavalasa have arrested six youngsters all of are engineering and MBA graduates indulged in high speed car and bike racing on the National Highway between Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam. Police said that the six member racers started the race from Yendada here at around 6am and reportedly went up to Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district and took a U turn to return to Visakhapatnam. They were arrested the police near Nathavalasa in Vizianagaram district. The arrested were identified as Y.Chaitanaya, M.Ravi Teja, K.Vamsi, G.Ashok, G. Ajit Kumar and A.Raj Kumar all are between 20 to 29 years. The police seized five racking bikes and a car.
  • VIJAYAWADA: Water jet stops on its own:: The water jet that created panic at Proddutur near Kankipadu died down on Sunday morning. Agricultural fields around the spot were soaked in water as the spouting was not capped by any expert team. The flow slowed down in the early hours and eventually stopped. Farmers and the local people heaved a sigh of relief as it was initially thought to contain natural gas but not confirmed by ONGC.
  • Dress code for Durga Temple employees:: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam has introduced dress code for its employees. The dress code is also applicable to shopkeepers atop Indrakeeladri. The employees have to wear white clothes and sport a tilak or Vibhooti. The employees who are working inside the temple will have wear a white shirt, a white dhoti and a kanduva. The engineering staff of the temple will have to wear a white or sandalwood color shirt. The women employees would have to wear plain saris as far as possible or tilak or Vibhooti. The security staff should not salute the Executive Officer or other higher ups and only have to greet them with folded hands and say Jai Bhavani.
  • VIZIANAGARAM: Korukonda Sainik School final results announced:: The final results of the Korukonda Sainik School that conducted examinations for admission into VI and IX classes for the academic year 2016-17 has been released on Sunday. The final list was posted on the website The call letters are being sent to the successful candidates before March 25, 2016 and those who did not receive call letters may call over phone number 08922-246119. The admissions will be taken up from March 31 to April 2. The School Principal Group Captain P.Ravi Kumar said that a total of 109 students were selected for 90 seats in Class VI including wait listed and 22 out of 20 for Class IX, he said.
