Excise Circle Inspector trapped

Kurnool:: ACB officials arrested Excise and Prohibition CI of Yemmiganur K.Lakshmidurgaiah when he allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a liquor shop owner today. The accused demanded the amount for not raiding the liquor shop at Nandavaram owned by Devendra, the latter complained to the ACB.

’Jyestabhishekam’ took of a colorful start

Tirumala:: The three day annual ‘Jyestabhishekam’ today took off to a colorful start at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Special rituals like Maha Shanti Homam and Sata Kalasa Abhishekam were performed inside the hill temple. The processional deities of Lord Malayappa and his divine consorts were seated on a special altar inside the ‘sampangi prakaram’. The deities were ceremoniously provided with diamond-studded armor known ‘Vajra Kavacham’.

Rs.13 crore for Nava Nirmana Deeksha

Vijayawada:: The government is spending Rs.13 crore for the on-going Nava Nirmana Deeksha in the State. The deeksha is aimed at highlighting the plight of the State post bifurcation and steps taken to overcome the situation. A GO issued on June 6 stated that administrative sanction for the amount had been accorded to ensure the conduct of the programme from June 2 to 8. The spending would be made by the Collectors for making arrangements at the district level and in all the Assembly constituencies.
