Vizianagaram:: A bust of Adhibhatla Narayana Das, Harikatha exponent at Wenlock Library was found damaged on Tuesday. Municipal Commissioner K.Kanaka Mahalakshmi lodged a complaint with II Town police. Following instructions from Collector Vivek Yadav, DPRO D.Ramesh and media persons visited the library and found some liquor bottles near the damaged statue. Representatives of various cultural organizations planned a protest on Wednesday.
Vijayawada: Textile merchants across the State will observe bandh on July 5 and 6 in support of their counterparts in Gujarat as well as against GST imposed on textiles following the call given by Textile GST Sangharsh Samiti (Surat). Members of AP Textile Federation will protest the ‘highhandedness of the police who lathi charged the merchants agitating against GST in Surat on Monday. The merchants have been in a protest mode against GST for the past one week and also observed bandh for three days.

Amaravati:: The State government has given its nod to establish CT scans in four medical teaching colleges under PPP mode. The Principal Secretary of Health and Medical Education Poonam Malakondaiah has issued orders. The hospitals are RIMS, Srikakulam, RIMS-Ongole, RIMS-Kadapa and DSR General Hospital-Nellore.
The Hyderabad High Court today ordered to serve notices to the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for not implementing free education to Economically Backward Classes students in unaided schools. A Division Bench comprising of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice T.Rajani dealing with a PIL filed by a law student from Visakhapatnam ordered notices to the Principal Secretaries of these two States.
Itchapuram(Srikakulam):: Swachh Bharat-Swachh Andhra Pradesh brand ambassador Ghajzal Srinivas inaugurated mineral water plant at kidney problem prevalent area Gondyalaputtuga in Kaviti mandal. The mineral plant was established in association with Vizianagaram Rotary Club, North America Telugu Society, Uddanam foundation, Ghajzal Charitable Trust. He demanded the government to declare medical emergency in 120 villages where the people are suffering from kidney diseases.
