Amaravati:: Andhra Pradesh State Tourism department bagged international award. This award was presented to the department at a function held in the V International Tourism at New Delhi. The Best Award for managed tourist destination award was presented to the APIC Special Officer Kancharla Jayarao, Tourist Information Assistant C.Veerendra.
Amaravati:: The CPI (M) State secretary P.Madhu in a statement on Sunday demanded the government not to sell the lands belonging to Hindustan Zinc Limited to Vednanta Company. He wanted the government to return the lands to the villagers and demanded payment of compensation being faced by the villagers due to pollution.
Vijayawada:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has condemned the reports published in a section of the press that the government is contemplating lowering the retirement age to 50. He said on Sunday that it was an attempt by the opposition parties to tarnish the image of the government. The government had always been pro-employees. He said that the TDP has increased retirement age to 60 as soon as it came to power in 2014. The government gave a fitment of 43% to the employees despite financial constraints, he said. He said that the Opposition and the newspapers should exercise restraint on such issues.
Kurnool:: The 12th wad councillor of Nandyal municipality Haneef Basha and about 300 of his followers quit the TDP) and joined the YSRCP in the presence of party candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy on Sunday. Haneef accused the TDP of resorting to unethical politics. Meanwhile, a woman social activist Mahajabeen was appointed YSRCP State secretary soon after she joined the party.
Kakinada:: Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa promised a CPI delegation that steps would be taken to complete the R&R survey in the merged mandals that would be affected by the Polavaram project. The delegation headed by CPI district secretary Tatipaka Madhu told the Minister that the survey was completed in the mandals merged into West Godavari but the process was moving at a snail’s pace in East Godavari.
The Common Entrance Admission Test-2017 for admissions into Indian Institute of Management and some prominent education institutions will be held on November 26, 2017. The eligibility is that the student should get at least 50% marks in any bachelor degree. The application fee is Rs.900 for SC,ST and Divyangulu and for others it is Rs.1,800.
