Nominated to AIU Governing Council

Tirupati:: Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor T.S.Ravikumar has been nominated as Governing Council member of Association of Indian Universities. According to a press release, Dr.Ravikuar is expected to play an active part n deliberations pertaining to health sciences including education, research and innovations, besides making recommendations for future development.

Seven hurt as TDP group clash

Kurnool:: Seven TDP workers were injured when two groups in the ruling party clashed at Singavam in Bandi Atmakur mandal of Kurnool on Sunday night. The clash occurred when members of one group confronted the other for assaulting a person. The police dispersed them and put up a check-post in the village. The injured were admitted to the government hospital at Nandyal and a case was registered.

PAC-government failed to use personal deposit funds

Vijayawada:: The State government has not been maintaining the minimum balance of Rs.2 crore everyday, mandatory as per the RBI norms. It didn’t spend Rs.20,000 crore lying in the personal deposit accounts but went for overdraft for 267 days in the financial year 2015-16. PAC Chairman B.Rajendranath Reddy raised these issues at the committee meeting today. If the funds were not spent before March 31, they would go back to the Centre, he said.
