NBW issued against cricketer Dhoni :: Anantapur court today issued a non-bailable warrant against Indian Cricket Captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni on the charges of insulting Hindu Gods in an advertisement. The court directed him to appear before the court on February 25, 2016.
Church under construction collapses – 11 workers killed:: A church under construction was collapsed today afternoon killing at least 11 persons and injuring over 20. The condition of five workers are said to be serious. The Municipal, Fire and Police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to area hospital for treatment. More information are awaited.
Nalajarlla (West Godavari):: Committed to Kapu reservations’, says Chief Minister:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu participating in Janmabhoomi – Maa Vooru programme at Jagannadhapuram in Nallajarla mandal said that the government is committed for reservations to Kapu community. He inaugurated the panchayat Bhavan here and listed out the development activities the government is taking for the welfare of the people.
Awareness meetings on Capital Master Plan:: The CRDA will hold meetings in all 29 villages in the capital region to create awareness about the detailed master plan that was released on December 26. The first meeting will be held at Thullur on January 12, CRDA Commissioner N.Srikanth, Guntur Collector Kantilal Dande and Joint Collector Ch.Sridhar are expected to attend the meetings that would be spread over a fortnight.
Junior lecturers will get promotions’, says Kadiyam Srihari:: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the junior lecturers will get their due promotions before the beginning of new academic year. He said all basic amenities would be provided in all government colleges. Kadiyam Srihari today launched the Junior lecturers’ diary and calendar. The issue of regularizing 3,678 contract lecturers is under the active consideration of the government, he said.
Car overturns – one Ayyappa devotee killed:: A car carrying Ayyappa devotees was overturned at Done mandal in Kurnool district killing one devotee on the spot leaving four injured. The injured were rushed to Kurnool hospital. The accident took place when the car carrying the devotees are travelling to Sabaramalai from Hyderabad.
Karimnagar: SI commits suicide:: Peddapalli Sub Inspector of Police Jagan Mohan has committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver. He was working as SI at Peddapalli for the past ten months and was transferred to Jammigunta a four days ago. Sources said that he took the extreme step following his transfer. The postmortem was conducted on the body and was handed over to the family members said Karimnagar SP Joyel David.
Siddipet:: Police arrested ten in the Sarpanch attack case:: The Siddeipet police have arrested 10 persons in the case of attack on the house of Sarpanch K.Lakshmi and tried to burn her alive. They have also identified 33 persons and would be arrested soon said the SP B.Sumathi. Police have registered cases u/s 302, 307 and 436 of IPC on the accused from both sides. The mob tried to take the law into their hands and kill Sarpanch Lakshmi and her family members. They behaved with her in completely unacceptable terms and that cannot be tolerate. The postmortem report indicated tht Srihari died due to internal bleeding said the SP. Those arrested in the attack on Sriram Srihari were identified as Yella Reddy, Nagi Reddy, Mahender Reddy and Mallikarjun Reddy and two others are to be arrested, she said. A case u/s 302 of IPC was registered.
Kalaniketan MD Leela Kumar and his wife arrested :: The Central Crime Station police have arrested Kalaniketan Managing Director Leela Kumar and his wife Sarada Kumari on cheating hundreds of crores. Leela Kumar has taken Rs.3 crore from one A.V.S.Reddy and did not return. He lodged a complaint with the police who arrested the couple on cheating charges.
Chandrababu Naidu top attend Davos meet:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum to be held at Davos in Switzerland from January 19 to 24. He will be accompanied by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and a delegation of senior officials of Industries, Finance and other departments. The delegation would hold interaction with prospective investors and explain them of the advantages in establishing industries in the State.
NTR Beach Festival – free transport launched:: East Godavari District Collector H.Arun Kumar today flagged off the free transport facility to NTR Beach Festival. As many as 25 buses and 50 Tata Magic vehicles were provided by the Tranpsort department will ferry the visitors to the festival venue from different parts of the city and back for free of cost. The three day annual beach festival began today.
Four laning of Kadapa-Kurnool back on the track:: The four laning of the Kadapa-Kurnool section of NH-18 (new NH-40) has been put on track following the Prime Minister’s Pro-Active Governance for Active and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) launched by Narendera Modi. The project was taken up under the Build Operate and Transfer mode under the National Highways Development project.
E-tracking system for police::Police have for the first time introduced an electronic tracking system to monitor movements of cops on duty. The DGP inaugurated this system in Markapuram town on Thursday. Mobiles were distributed to the police on patrol, vehicle checking and other duties which were connected with the Global Positioning System to the control room. Senior officials will monitor the movement of cops on duty.
New Village Programme -Korean school to train farmers:: Canaan Farmers School of South Korea has decided to train the farmers form the backward areas of the district as part of the ‘New Village’ programme that was taken up in association with Dr.B.R.Ambedkar University. Korean School president Kim Bum-Il AND Ambedkar University Vice-Chancellor H.Lajapathi Rai signed a MoU to exchange ideas in the field of education today.
Intermediate girl kidnapped and allegedly gangraped:: Gopalapatnam: An intermediate girl student was allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified persons and was gang raped for the past three days. They left the girl at a bus stand on Friday evening and the victim is in the police care. The parents are demanding stringent action against the accused. The Gopalapatnam police have arrested five persons allegedly involved in the case. The Station House Officer of the Gopalapatnam PS said that the girl had gone missing since January 5 from her residence and a case was also registered by her parents. After a search, the girl was found on January 7 and her condition was reported to be physically unstable. On questioning, she revealed that she had been raped by five persons on five different dates since December. The police on investigation arrested five persons on Friday and booked them under various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The girl had been sent to KGH for medical examination.

Gandhi memorial to come up at Kailasagiri::Gandhi Memorial is proposed to be established on Kailasagiri Hill. GITAM University Chancellor Koneru Ramakrishna Rao addressing the prss said that it would offer all resources on Gandhiji at one location. The Second International Convention of Gandhirama being conducted from next Saturday, he said. The Gandhirama project would be taken up with the support of all institutions and leaders in the city and is likely to cost Rs.100 crore. He said that it would be ready by the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji in October 2019, he said.

Cockfights – Police to act tough:: The State Police will act tough against cockfights during Sankranti festival especially in East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur. The Police are taking steps to prevent cockfights following directions from Supreme Court and High Court. It was a tradition in Krishna and Godavari districts to organize cockfights for Sankranti. DGP J.V.Ramudu said that orders have been issued to all SPs.
Undi MLA bags award:: Undi MLA Vetukuri Venkata Sivarama Raju won the Bharatiya Chaatra Samsad foundation, Pune’s Adarsh Yuva Vidhayak Puraskar. Bharatiya Chaatra Samsad Foundation has invited the MLA to address at its sixth annual convention. According to a press release, Venkata Sivarama Raju had organized installation of 78 RO water plants in 70 villages and provided 30,000 tree guards were provided under Neeru-Chettu programmes. The significant initiative is distribution of seed packets with 17 types of seed to 70,000 families.
