CHITTOOR: Two international red sanders smugglers nabbed:: The Chittoor task police led by SP Ghattamaneni Srinivas on Friday night nabbed two international red sanders smugglers – Markonda Lakshman and Vikas Mehandi at Kolkata and New Delhi respectively conducting both raids simultaneously. The SP said that the both were operating in red sanders smuggling for over ten years.
GUNTUR: Ch.Sridhar appointed as CRDA additional commissioner:: The State Government has appointed Guntur Joint Collector Ch.Sridhar as additional commissioner of CRDA to resolve land issues of capital Amaravati. Municipal Administration Minister P.Narayana said the government appointed Ch.Sridhar appointing as additional commissioner of CRDA especially for resolving Grama Kantham issues.
HYDERABAD: Three increments cut to those doctors issued with charge memos:: The Andhra Pradesh State Government has cut three increments of 650 doctors who were issued with charge memos. AP Government Doctors Association has strongly opposed the government move. Central Andhra co-convenor of the Association Dr.I.Babji Syam Kumar condemned the unilateral action of the government. He said that the government has taken hasty action against doctors. He said that the doctors are not working in private sector during their official hours in the government. They take leave and are working on their day-off’s. Without studying the issue in detail arbitrary action has been taken, he said. The doctors demand immediate withdrawal.
Andhra Pradesh State budget to cross Rs.1.25 lakh crore:: Andhra Pradesh State’s annual budget is likely to cross Rs.1.25 lakh crore for the financial year 2016-17 extending up to Rs.1.35 lakh crore. The State Government is not proposing any new taxes nor introducing any new schemes said sources. It had introduced the budget for the current financial year at Rs.1.13 lakh crore with non-plan expenditure pegged at Rs.76,636 crore and plan expenditure at Rs.34,412 crore.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is the new SEC:: The Government has issued orders appointing Governor’s Special Chief Secretary Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner. Ramesh Kumar, a 1982 batch IAS officer will retire from service on March 31, 2016. But he has taken voluntary retirement to make a way for his appointment as Station Election Commissioner.
ONGOLE: 20 inmates of girls’ hostel taken ill after food contamination:: As many as 20 students of the BC hostel were taken to ill after they took stale food at Inkolllu in Prakasam district on Saturday. The hostel authorities immediately arranged medical treatment for the students.
VISAKHAPATNAM: RINL steel for Amaravati:: Visakha Steel Employees’ Congress, the recognized union of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has asked the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to use steel produced by the VSP for construction of Amaravati. In a representation to Chief Minister on his arrival at the airport here, VSEC general secretary Mantri Rajasekhar said the government should issue an order asking the CRDA to use steel made by the VSP.
Training for lawyers on Lok Adalat:: Principal District Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority V.Jayasurya speaking on the inauguration of the two day training programme for lawyers on Lok Adalat organized jointly by the DLSA and State Legal Services Authority at Courts Complex urged them to do their bit to speed up the process of delivering justice. He said that the very objective of the Constitution is to deliver justice to the poor free of cost. The two day training programme for the lawyers from across the district was taken up senior advocate V.Srinivasa Rao.
AU inks pact with SIM, Govin Holdings:: A tripartite agreement between Andhra University, Singapore based Govin Holdings and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) was signed today. As per the agreement, Singapore based SIM will collaborate with AU to run educational courses in the area of management. As per the agreement, Govin Holdings will construct an entrepreneurship tower in the University to facilitate training programme and entrepreneurship incubation centres said AU Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao.
Tribal painting expo:: TRIFED, a national level apex federation under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs will hold an all India exhibition of tribal paintings at Rajiv Smruthi Bhavan on Beach Road from February 1 to 14. In all 340 paintings in different categories will be displayed. TRIFED will hold the exhibition ‘Adi Chitra’ from 10am to 8pm barring the days and times of security restricts by the Navy and other security agencies for the IFR.
Ambedkar study centre opened:: AU Vice Chancellor GSN Raju today inaugurated the Centre for Dr.BR Ambedkar Studies, the first of its kind in the State in Andhra University. He donated Rs.10,000 from his pocket towards the books for the Centre. He said more research and studies should be conducted on the life of Dr.Ambedkar.
